Millions worth of properties destroyed as fire ravages Ladipo plank market

The Ladipo plank market, located at Baale Roundabout, Orile-Iganmu, Lagos State, fell victim to a devastating fire outbreak that resulted in the destruction of properties worth millions of naira.

Reports indicate that the fire started around midnight on Wednesday, engulfing a section of the market.

LASEMA’s spokesperson, Nosa Okunbor, confirmed the incident, noting that distress calls were received through emergency lines at 12:04 am, prompting the activation of the Cobra Response Team from Onipanu.

Upon arrival at 12:42 am, responders identified that the blaze originated from a pile of planks, possibly caused by a power surge, before rapidly spreading to three adjacent shops.

Okunbor emphasized the implementation of safety protocols by the multi-agency response teams, led by the LASEMA Response Team (LRT), ensuring the protection of responders involved in the operation. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.
