Mentally Disabled Man Arrested for Fatally Wounding His Father in Anambra state (photo)

Chigorom Ezeofor, a 37-year-old man with mental challenges, has been apprehended by authorities from the Anambra state police department for the alleged killing of his father in Unuchiana village, Aguata Local Government Area on April 25.

The police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, verified the incident, stating that the Aguata police station was alerted by Timothy Ezeofor about the purported murder of his 70-year-old brother, Godwin Ezeofor, by his 37-year-old son, Chigorom Ezeofor, using an Axe. Timothy mentioned that the suspect had been battling mental illness for the past eight years.

Upon receipt of the report, officers from the Aguata Division, led by the DPO CSP Ayeni Oluwadare, promptly responded to the scene, documented the victim, and transported him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor. The body was then deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy.

The police spokesperson also mentioned that evidence was collected, and the suspect, who appeared mentally unstable, was arrested and taken to the police station for a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
