Manchester United Considering Pay Cut for Ten Hag if He Remains as Manager

Reports from ESPN suggest that Erik ten Hag, the current manager of Manchester United, could face a significant reduction in salary should he continue his role at the club beyond the current season.

Ten Hag is reportedly set to experience a 25% pay decrease at Old Trafford due to the team’s probable failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Having initially signed a three-year contract with Manchester United upon his move from Ajax in May 2022, the Dutchman finds himself under immense pressure as the team struggles in seventh place in the league standings.

The club trails the top-four position by a substantial 16-point margin.

According to the report, the club’s updated football leadership, spearheaded by minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS, is actively exploring alternative options to Ten Hag’s tenure at Manchester United.

Potential candidates being considered include Gareth Southgate from England, Thomas Tuchel from Bayern Munich, Roberto De Zerbi from Brighton, Thomas Frank from Brentford, and Gary O’Neil from Wolves.

Manchester United could potentially reduce Ten Hag’s salary if he avoids being sacked from his managerial position.
