Man brought before Ibadan court for alleged N3.2m fraud

Charged before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Saheed Adebayo, a 46-year-old individual, is facing accusations of involvement in a N3.2 million fraud.

Denying the charges, Adebayo, who lacks a fixed address, is accused of theft.

According to Police Prosecutor Insp Femi Oluwadare, the defendant allegedly committed the crime within the period of June 30 to December 2022 in Kuola, Ibadan.

It was disclosed that Adebayo was tasked with overseeing six commercial motorcycles that belonged to the complainant, Ayomikun David.

Oluwadare also mentioned that the six motorcycles, valued at N3.2 million, were entrusted to motorcyclists with an agreement to return earnings daily to the complainant through Adebayo.

Allegedly, the defendant failed to hand over the returns to the complainant and business owner but diverted the funds for personal gain.

This act was said to have violated Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant was granted bail by Magistrate Mr. Maruff Mudashiru in the sum of N1 million along with two reliable sureties in a similar amount.

The case is scheduled for hearing on August 12.
