Man arrested by police for allegedly murdering friend over N3m job scam in Kano

A man named Sadiq Zubairu has been apprehended by the Kano State Police Command on suspicion of killing his friend, Bello Adam. This tragedy allegedly occurred due to Adam’s failure to assist Zubairu in securing a job after providing him with N3 million.

Zubairu had made a promise to his late friend Adam, who was a former colleague at the Kano Electricity Distribution Company, to help him secure a position at the Federal Inland Revenue Service.

On May 5, 2024, at precisely 10 a.m., the police were alerted by the deceased’s brother about Adam’s disappearance, as stated in a release by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Abdullahi.

Subsequently, the police received a report of a deceased male found near Bechi Village in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state. Following investigations, Zubairu was apprehended at 9 a.m. the next day.

The police statement detailed, “A report was received on 05/05/2024 at around 10:00 a.m. from a resident of Zawaciki Quarters in Kumbotso LGA, regarding the disappearance of Bello Bukar Adam, a 45-year-old KEDCO staff of Zawaciki Housing Estate, Kano.”

“Later that day, the body of a deceased adult male was found abandoned along the Eastern Bypass, around Bechi Village in Kumbotso LGA. The police took swift action and arrested Sadiq Zubairu, 35, from Hotoron Arewa Quarters, Nassarawa LGA on 06/05/2024 at 9 a.m.”

During initial investigations, Zubairu purportedly admitted to collaborating with two others to lure the victim to his house, where they assaulted him until he lost consciousness.

Following this, Zubairu allegedly placed the unconscious victim in the trunk of his vehicle and dumped the body by the roadside, along with stealing the victim’s possessions, including his Toyota Corolla 2015 model and mobile phone.

Zubairu confessed that the incident stemmed from deceiving Adam into giving him N3 million under false promises of securing a job, leading to the fatal attack and subsequent theft of the victim’s vehicle, which was later recovered by the police.
