Leaders in Nigeria Encouraged to Follow Yar’adua’s Example, Says EFCC Chair, Olukoyede


During the maiden President Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Leadership Conference and Awards in Abuja, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, called on Nigerian leaders to learn from and emulate the leadership qualities of former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.

Olukoyede highlighted Yar’adua’s commitment to integrity and transparency, emphasizing that these traits are crucial for effective leadership.

Former President Yar’adua, who assumed office in 2007, passed away in 2010 due to health complications.

Speaking on the topic “Moral and Ethical Leadership; Antidote to National Development” through the Director of Public Affairs, CE Wilson Uwujaren, Olukoyede noted the importance of upholding integrity in leadership despite existing laws and regulations that promote ethical behavior in Nigeria.

Addressing the audience, Olukoyede emphasized the significance of moral and ethical leadership, reflecting on Yar’adua’s legacy of integrity and transparency during his tenure as Governor of Katsina and President of Nigeria.

Former Nigerian President Gen. Yakubu Gowon also commended Yar’adua for his patriotism and love for the country, recalling the late president’s dedication to the welfare of the people during his time as Governor of Katsina.

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, expressed gratitude for the memorial event honoring Yar’adua’s legacy and encouraged Nigerian leaders to uphold their responsibilities in advancing the nation.

Reflecting on the challenges ahead, Governor Alia urged leaders to remain optimistic and work towards a better Nigeria by drawing inspiration from the example set by Yar’adua.
