Latest in EPL: Xabi Alonso Turns Down Liverpool, Front-Runner to Replace Klopp Emerges

Reports from Mail Sport suggest that Bayer Leverkusen’s manager, Xabi Alonso, has decided to reject the opportunity to take over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

In addition to snubbing Liverpool, Alonso will also decline an offer from Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich in order to stay with Leverkusen for at least another year.

Despite rumors linking him with a return to Anfield following Klopp’s exit announcement, there is no indication that the former midfielder is interested in leaving his current position with the Bundesliga table-toppers.

As a result, attention has shifted to Sporting Lisbon’s manager, Ruben Amorim, who is emerging as a strong contender for the Liverpool job, alongside Roberto De Zerbi from Brighton.

Amorim, aged 39, is likely to undergo an interview process for the managerial role at Liverpool, with reports suggesting that he performed well in internal assessments.
