Lagos SWAN and WCFL Form Football Partnership

A collaboration agreement was established between the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (Lagos State chapter) and the White Collar Football League, with the aim of creating a positive impact on society, as reported by NewsNow.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Dave Jones, President of White Collar Football Management, Debo Oshundun – Chairman of Lagos SWAN, and Oba Moroof Amodu-Tijani Oluwa, the Olu of Iwa and Apapa Kingdom. The signing ceremony took place at the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government secretariat in Ajegunle, Lagos.

With this partnership, the White Collar Football League is set to commence with 32 teams, both male and female, at the New Maracana Stadium in Ajegunle, Lagos.

Jones emphasized that the collaboration signifies a joint dedication to leveraging the influence of sports for societal betterment.

He stated, “The establishment of WCFL was motivated by a vision to unite our passion for football with a drive to create a positive impact in our community.”

Oshundun, the head of Lagos SWAN, expressed, “As sports journalists, we recognize the vast potential of sports as a multi-billion-dollar industry. It acts as a platform for sustainable progress, provides avenues to alleviate poverty, and boosts the economy. We firmly believe that the transformations we seek in our communities must begin with us. Therefore, we are honored to collaborate with WCFL to spearhead positive changes in society.”

During the event, Fatai Ayoola, the Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, affirmed, “We acknowledge the sports growth and nurturing of upcoming sports talents in our locality. Today’s signing of the partnership between Lagos SWAN and WCFL sets a new benchmark for excellence in innovative initiatives for progress in Lagos State and across Nigeria.”

Oba Amodu-Tijani extended an invitation to additional stakeholders to contribute to the advancement of sports in society.

He said, “I also extend an invitation to anyone enthusiastic about football, irrespective of their expertise level, who wishes to collaborate with us in achieving the objectives set for this initiative. Whether you are a seasoned player, a novice, a supporter, a volunteer, a potential sponsor, or a former professional, I welcome your participation. Together, we can labor towards enhancing our communities and fostering prosperity for our people.”
