At a jetty in the Ojo area of Lagos, the Lagos State Police Command has intercepted bags of a substance believed to be Indian Hemp.

An individual has been apprehended in connection with this occurrence.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, informed reporters of these developments on Friday.

The substances were intercepted by detectives from the tactical squad, Ijaniki, around the Ajangbadi area during their morning patrol at approximately 4:30 a.m on Wednesday.

The tactical team, according to Hundeyin, tracked a white Mercedes Benz mini-truck to Ilufe Waterside Jetty, Alaba International, Ojo.

The officers discovered a significant amount of suspected Indian Hemp in sacks being unloaded from a flying boat.

“A suspect (43 years old, name withheld), purportedly the truck driver, was apprehended. A total of 1,040 wraps of the suspected substance were uncovered in 30 sacks,” he stated.

“The suspect claimed that he was contacted by a man known as Ifeanyi to transport the substances from Waterside Jetty to Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos.”

“The investigation is currently in progress, and endeavors are being made to locate and apprehend the aforementioned Ifeanyi,” he added.
