A man named Oluroju Shola, who works as a medical laboratory scientist, has appeared in Upper Area Court Gwagwalada, Abuja, over accusations of disclosing nude photos of his ex-girlfriend.
According to the police, Shola, from Kwamba Suleja in Niger State, has been charged with criminal breach of trust, intimidation, and character defamation.
During the court proceedings, Prosecution Counsel Abdullahi Tanko informed the court that the complaint was filed by Barnabas Janet from old Kutunku Gwagwalada at the Gwagwalada Police Station on April 17.
Tanko explained that Shola and Janet had been in a relationship since 2021 and had mutually agreed to keep some private photos and videos. However, trouble arose when the complainant decided to end the relationship, and Shola threatened to expose the private content.
Subsequently, Shola went against the complainant’s wishes and shared the private photos online.
The prosecutor highlighted that Shola’s actions violated the stipulations of Sections 312, 397, and 391 of the Penal Code.
Despite the charges, Shola pleaded not guilty in court.
Following the proceedings, Judge Malam Abdullahi Abdulkarim granted bail to Shola with a set amount of N1 million, requiring one reliable surety to post a similar sum and reside within the court’s jurisdiction, providing valid identification.
The case has been adjourned until June 4 for further hearings and proceedings.
