Kebbi governor gives green light for N309m in foreign scholarships


The approval of N309,584,041.80 for foreign scholarships for students from Kebbi State studying in India and Egypt has been granted by Governor Dr. Nasir Idris.

Announcing this development in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday was the State Commissioner of Higher Education, Alhaji Isah Abubakar-Tunga.

Breaking down the figures, the commissioner mentioned that N228,150,148:00 is allocated for 63 students in India, while N81,433,893:80 is earmarked for 23 students studying in Egypt.

He assured that the remaining 50 foreign students will have their expenses taken care of promptly.

In addition, the commissioner highlighted that in February 2024, the governor cleared outstanding local scholarships for state students enrolled in 36 tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

Expressing gratitude for the governor’s dedication to the higher education sector, he emphasized the Ministry’s acknowledgment of these efforts.
