Keana LG Council Vows to Prosecute Killers of Farmers in Nasarawa

In response to the killing of several farmers in Nasarawa State, the Keana Local Government Council has committed to ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

As part of their efforts to combat crime in the area, the council is determined to prosecute those responsible for the attacks on farmers.

During an emergency meeting with key stakeholders, including security personnel, traditional leaders, and representatives of different ethnic groups in Kadarko Chiefdom, Council Chairman Sanusi Abdul Giza reiterated the council’s stance.

Expressing his dismay at the recent incidents, Giza emphasized the council’s unwavering dedication to apprehending and prosecuting the individuals behind the attacks.

The council emphasized the critical importance of addressing the prevailing security challenges in the locality.

While extending sympathies to the affected families, Giza cautioned residents against taking matters into their own hands and encouraged them to allow the authorities to handle the situation.

He also urged all ethnic groups in the area to coexist peacefully and avoid being misled by troublemakers seeking to instigate violence.

Highlighting the collaborative efforts between the local government and security agencies to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, Giza assured the community of their commitment to restoring peace and security.

Senior Special Assistants to Governor Abdullahi Sule, James Ali Manza, and Ibrahim Bido also voiced concerns over the incidents, emphasizing the state government’s resolve to prevent any actions that could sow disunity.

Addressing allegations of land grabbing by a specific ethnic group, the paramount ruler of Kadarko, Osokadarko Mallam Usman Kakunu Dodo, clarified that the disputed land was allocated following a proper process to farmers from various ethnic backgrounds.
