Kano Police detains 269 individuals following EndBadGovernance demonstration

A total of 269 suspects have been taken into custody by the Kano State Police Command for engaging in looting activities during the EndbadGovernance protest that took place in the state on Thursday.

The Command shared this information in an update via a post on their official Facebook page.

According to the authorities, the culprits carried out an attack on a supermarket located in Nasarawa Quarters within the state.

During a security operation, law enforcement officers managed to seize an AK-47 rifle in the vicinity of the high court.

Additionally, a significant amount of stolen goods was confiscated from the apprehended individuals.

The post stated: “Around 10:00 am today, a number of hoodlums, disguising their motives under the pretense of partaking in the nationwide protest, launched assaults on various establishments across Kano state.

“In response to these illicit activities, a total of 269 suspects, held responsible for causing destruction, looting, and inciting disorder during the hunger protest held nationwide, were apprehended.

“These occurrences have disturbed the peace and security of the public, requiring immediate intervention by the Kano state police command.

“Arson incident at NCC office: Several vehicles at the NCC office situated at Audu Bako secretariat, near the Government House Kano, were intentionally set on fire.

“Thanks to prompt action, the fire has been successfully contained.”

Meanwhile, as a safety precaution, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano has enforced a 24-hour curfew in the state to safeguard the well-being of the residents.
