Justice Abdulganiyu Assumes Office as the President of Oyo Customary Court of Appeal

Recently, Governor Seyi Makinde officially inaugurated Justice Tajudeen Mohammed Abdulganiyu as the President of the Oyo State Customary Court of Appeal.

The ceremony, which was held in the governor’s office in Ibadan, unfolded on Monday.

In his remarks, Makinde emphasized that Abdulganiyu’s appointment was meticulously processed, based on recommendations devoid of any political, religious, or ethnic biases.

He disclosed that Abdulganiyu’s nomination as the President of the Customary Court of Appeal was forwarded to the NJC and subsequently endorsed.

Makinde highlighted the diversity aspect, stating, “He is a Muslim hailing from Igbeti, not Ibadan. However, here in Oyo State, we prioritize due process over origins.

“The appointment of Hon. Justice Abdulganiyu adhered strictly to due process. His name was proposed to the NJC for the role of the President of the Customary Court of Appeal and rightfully approved. Therefore, we did not cut corners but followed our regular protocols. We pledge full cooperation and support for his tenure, reflecting our longstanding positive engagement with the judiciary over the past five years,” he affirmed.
