Jose Mourinho Sets Conditions for Future Managerial Role

Having been without a managerial role since his departure from Roma in January, Jose Mourinho has specified his requirements for his next position in management as he waits for potential offers.

Although rumors have linked the 61-year-old with clubs in the Saudi Pro League, the Portuguese strategist is aiming for a return to European football.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Mourinho outlined his prerequisites for his next job: “I simply insist that the goals and objectives must be agreed upon fairly by all parties involved. I cannot accept a situation where, due to my past accomplishments, the sole aim is to win the championship. No, fairness is key to me.”

“Consider this, if I were managing a major Premier League team and we were placed sixth, seventh, or eighth in the standings, would I still retain my position? My point is that I want to be judged like anyone else,” he added.

“For me, what matters most is whether the club has clearly defined objectives, and for me to be prepared to battle for them. I don’t seek goals that are necessarily realistic, but at the very least, they should be somewhat achievable.

“Reflecting back on my time at Roma, no one envisioned competing in the European Cup final, yet we accomplished it. It would not be fair for me to join a club on the brink of relegation with the expectation of winning the Champions League. The ambition is commendable, but it needs to be realistic and fair.”
