Iran celebrated the funerals of 60 people on Saturday, including high military and nuclear scientists, who died in Israeli attacks in the 12 -day war, in a massive ceremony in which thousands of people participated in Tehran and who described as “a message to the world.”
The funeral ceremony began in the Plaza Enghelab (Revolution) with the Koran verse: “Without a doubt, God defends those who have believed. Know that God does not love the traitor or the ungrateful,” the Iranian agency Iraní reported.
After the ceremony in Enghelab the procession went to the Azadi Square (Libertad) located about five kilometers, a distance that was traveled in more than four hours in the middle of a sea of people who waved Iranian flags and between shouts of “death to America” and “Death to Israel”.
Iranian state media placed in “one million” the number of people who attended funerals, an extreme that has not been confirmed by independent sources. “Neither surrender nor commitment to the United States,” he also resonated while the coffins covered with flags circulated through the capital adorned with photos of the deceased, in addition to rose petals and people who approached to touch them.
Among the deceased whose funeral was held today were the Commander of the Revolutionary Guard, General Hosein Salamí; The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, General Mohamad Hosein Baqerí, or the nuclear scientist Mehdi Tehranchi, among others.
In total 60 people were buried today, including 30 military, four children and four women, who are part of the 627 dead in the 12 days of war, according to official data.
Its burials will be held between today and tomorrow in various Iranian cities.
A message to the world
The Foreign Ministry described as a “message to the world” and a “sample of the loyalty of the people” the high number of funeral attendees.
“This funeral was not just a farewell ritual, it represented the unity of a nation that responded to the murder with the language of the presence,” he said in a statement.
High positions of the Persian country participated in the funeral procession, as was the case of Iran’s president, Masoud fishshkian; The commander of the Force Quds of the Revolutionary Guard, ESMail Qaani, or the president of Parliament, Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf, among others.
It also appeared in public for the first time in the funeral procession Ali Shamkhani, advisor to the supreme leader, Ali Jameneí, whom he was taken dead in the first days of the conflict that began on June 13.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abás Araqchí joined the funeral hours after asking the president of the United States, Donald Trump, to leave the “disrespectful and unacceptable tone” towards Jameneí if he wants to close a nuclear agreement with the Persian country.
“If President Trump really wants an agreement (nuclear), he should put aside the disrespectful and unacceptable tone towards Iran’s supreme leader, the great Jameneí Ayatolá, and stop hurting his millions of more sincere followers,” said Araqchí in X at dawn. “Good will generates good will, and respect generates respect,” he added.
The spokesman for the revolutionary guard, Ali Mohamad Naeini, also had words for the US president, so he described as his “reckless rhetoric.” “Our advice for Trump is to open the eyes and stop speaking without foundation and behave erratically,” said the military, in statements collected by Iranian means.
These messages occur after Trump claimed yesterday that he saved Jameneí’s life by not revealing his whereabouts to Israel and not ordering the US armed forces to attack him. “I saved him from a horrible and ignominious death, and he doesn’t have to say” Thank you, President Trump! “” Trump said in Truth.
In addition, he did not rule out to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities if he receives credible intelligence reports that confirm a new enrichment from uranium to “worrying levels.” Israel launched an offensive against Iran on June 13 and the two countries exchanged attacks for 12 days, while the United States attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities.
According to official data, the war left a balance of at least 28 civilians in Israel and 627 in Iran, and concluded with a high fire mediated by the United States that entered into force last Tuesday.
