Investigation Launched by Chief Of Air Staff into Death of Temporary Staff in Kano

Following the death of Yusuf Shuaibu, a temporary staff at 465 NAF Hospital in Kano, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has initiated an investigation.

An officer was allegedly responsible for beating Shuaibu severely.

Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the Air Force Director of Public Relations and Information, disclosed this in a statement he issued in Kano on Tuesday.

Shuaibu reportedly faced physical abuse from an officer after delaying the completion of a task assigned to him.

The sudden demise of Shuaibu upon reaching home triggered protests, with his family demanding justice.

Addressing the incident, the NAF Spokesperson confirmed the altercation between the deceased and an airman over insubordination and failure to comply with directives.

After a resolution was reached between them, Shuaibu returned home seemingly in good health, only for news to surface the next day about his passing.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, expressed his grief over the loss and instructed the Hospital and NAF Base Kano Commanders to convey condolences to Shuaibu’s family.

An investigation has been mandated by the CAS to ascertain the circumstances leading to Shuaibu’s unfortunate demise.

The death of Shuaibu has provoked outrage in Gwagwarwa, Nassarawa Local Government Area, with his father urging Governor Abba Yusuf, the Emir of Kano, the National Human Rights Commission, and the Chief of Air Staff to intervene and ensure justice for the family.
