Civil Society Group Urges Tinubu to Avoid Interference in Kogi Tribunal Judgment

In collaboration with the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations, Nigeria Youth Advocacy for Good Governance Initiative (NYAGGI) has made an appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to refrain from interfering in the judgment of the Kogi State governorship election tribunal and to uphold democratic principles.

A statement titled “Exposing Attempts to Subvert Judicial Integrity in Kogi State Governorship Tribunal,” signed by Comrade Shuaibu Abdulkadir, the National President of NYAGGI, emphasized the necessity of ensuring that justice prevails to address alleged electoral malpractices in the recent Kogi State governorship election.

Emphasizing the importance of justice prevailing, the group called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a staunch advocate of democratic principles, to resist any urge to influence the tribunal’s judgment regarding Kogi State.

Addressing the widespread electoral malpractices such as manipulation, over-voting, and voter inducement across various regions of Kogi State, the group asserted that the integrity of democracy must be upheld to rectify the situation.

Highlighting the need for fair elections to reflect the true essence of democracy, the statement emphasized the importance of scrutinizing any form of election irregularities that undermine democratic values.

Expressing unwavering commitment to democratic ideals for a society based on justice and equity, the group urged for the triumph of justice to pave the way for a better future for Kogi State and the entire nation.

Abdulkadir urged the judiciary to protect the country’s democracy with steadfast determination, free from any form of bias or external influence.
