Insights from Siasia on Mikel Obi’s Personality

In a recent podcast discussion with ex-international Emmanuel Babayaro and journalist Mathew Edafe, former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia shared that he perceives Mikel Obi as a stubborn individual.

Siasia admitted to struggling with footballers who possess a stubborn nature, naming Mikel specifically in this regard.

Expressing his sentiments, Siasia mentioned, “Mikel is a little bit out of my list; he is stubborn. I can not tolerate people like that much. The only good thing he did was that he came and played very well in the Olympics. He acted as a captain.”

During his tenure as the Nigeria Under 20 football team’s coach, Siasia achieved success by clinching the African Youth Championship in 2005 and leading the team to the final of the 2005 U-20 World Cup in The Netherlands.

Furthermore, he also attained Olympic silver and bronze medals while managing the U-23 team in 2008 and 2016, respectively.

Siasia notably served as the Super Eagles coach in 2010 for a year before returning to the role in 2016.
