Impersonator posing as fake soldier prevents So-Safe officers from arresting cultists in Ogun

A young man named Sanni Ayuba has been apprehended by the So-Safe Corps in Abeokuta, Ogun State, for falsely presenting himself as a soldier working with the Nigerian Army.

Ayuba used a fake military ID card and insignia to interfere with the arrest of suspected cultists in Ogun.

Soji Ganzallo, the State Commander of the Corps, stated that Sanni’s impersonation was an attempt to tarnish the reputation of the military. He forcefully prevented the arrest of wanted cult members in Adigbe, Opako, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The So-Safe Corps had already apprehended two suspected cultists and placed them in handcuffs to transport them to the station.

However, Sanni Alhaji Ayuba, who happened to be present at the scene, used a military identity card to halt the officers from carrying out their security duties, allowing the suspects to escape with the handcuffs.

Ayuba, along with two others claiming to be Naval officers, swiftly departed from the scene.

Ganzallo explained that the fake soldier was eventually arrested and thoroughly investigated, but the two men posing as Naval officers managed to escape.

The suspect confessed to impersonating a military officer.

Recovered from Ayuba were an Army camouflage scarf, a fake Army ID card, a jack knife, an Itel phone, three ATM cards, a WAEC ID card, a dog chain with arms pendants, and other items.

According to Moruf Yusuf, spokesperson for the So-Safe Corps, the suspect and the recovered items have been handed over to the police CIID at Eleweran, Abeokuta for further investigation and possible prosecution.
