An individual identified as Micheal Uzondu, aged 31 and hailing from Amimo in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, has been taken into custody by law enforcement officers of the State Police Command for allegedly being in possession of a firearm.

Following an intelligence-driven operation on a known criminal hideout at No 1 Chidiobi Street, Site and Services, World Bank Layout, the Police Narcotics Unit successfully apprehended the young man and seized a locally-produced gun as well as suspected hard drugs found in his possession.

“An investigation is presently in progress with efforts being made to apprehend both the sellers and manufacturers of these illegally made firearms. Upon the conclusion of a thorough investigation, the suspect will be brought before a court of law for prosecution.”

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, urged the residents of Imo State to cooperate with the police by providing accurate information to combat the proliferation of unlawful firearms and ammunition, which significantly threatens the peace and security of the State. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of all individuals within the State.
