I’m the Jesus of Nigerian music- singer Terry G

The singer Terry G, also known as Gabriel Amanyi, has asserted that he is the trailblazer of the current trend in Nigerian music, likening himself to the “Jesus” of the Nigerian music scene. In an interview with Channels TV, the “Free Madness” and “Akpako” crooner expressed that Nigerians have embraced his style of music. Terry G stated that he is the “Jesus” of the Nigerian music industry, setting the pace and making sacrifices for his artistic genre.

According to him, “I’m the Jesus of Nigerian music, I’m not the Christ. The Christ is the savior, Jesus is a name, and for the fact that Jesus is the most popular name that died for us and sacrificed for us. It took me a while to take this risk that a lot of persons discriminated against me for and now, they see people smoking, doing stuff and nobody is talking. There must be a pace-setter.”

Furthermore, he pointed out the hypocrisy of many Nigerians who now embrace and support the things they had previously criticized him for. Terry G also compared himself to Naira Marley but acknowledged that it was not his place to determine whether he was more influential than Naira Marley.
