IBEDC initiates revision of tariff rates for band A consumers

Commencing immediate action, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, known as IBEDC, has initiated a downward adjustment of tariff rates for band A customers, reducing it from N225/Kwh to N206.80/Kwh.

Following a directive issued by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, commonly referred to as NERC, the DISCOS have been instructed to revise the tariff rates specifically for band A customers.

In response to the protests among electricity consumers regarding tariff increases, the National Assembly urged the commission to step in, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria.

Speaking to NAN in Ota, Ogun State, Mrs. Busolami Tunwase, Lead of Media Relations at IBEDC, disclosed that the updated tariff rates came into effect on May 4.

“Customers who are utilizing prepaid meters will be the first to witness the amended tariff at N206.80/Kwh upon recharging during the month of May,” she stated.

“For customers on the post-paid system, the adjusted tariff will be visible in the electricity bills they receive by the end of May 2024,” she added.

Tunwase also mentioned that the tariff rates for bands B, C, D, and E remain unaltered.
