Huge news: Nigerian government boosts workers’ pay by a minimum of 25%

Confirmed: Nigerian Federal Government provides an across-the-board pay raise for government employees.

The pay hike ranges from 25% to 35% in the remaining six consolidated pay scales.

This increase impacts various consolidated salary structures, including the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS), Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure (CONRAISS), Consolidated Police Salary Structure (CONPOSS), Consolidated Paramilitary Salary Structure (CONPASS), Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure (CONICCS), and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure (CONAFSS).

Institutions like polytechnics and colleges of education are covered under the Consolidated Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Academic Staff Salary Structure (CONPCASS) and Consolidated Tertiary Educational Institutions Salary Structure (CONTEDISS).

The healthcare sector also sees a positive impact through the implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and Consolidated Health Sector Salary Structure (CONHESS).

An announcement signed by Emmanuel Njoku, the Head of Press at the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC), reveals that these increases are effective from January 1, 2024.

In addition, the Federal Government has sanctioned a pension adjustment of 20% to 28% for pensioners under the Defined Benefits Scheme linked to the mentioned consolidated salary structures, also starting from January 1, 2024.
