Househelp commits suicide in Lagos

The tragic news of a househelp committing suicide in Lagos has shaken the community. Abigail Felix, an 18-year-old from the Republic of Benin, was working as a househelp for a family in the Alausa, Ikeja area of Lagos state.

She took her own life by consuming a deadly DD insecticide without leaving a suicide note. The circumstances leading to her decision remain unclear.

Abigail had been living with the Akinrinmades, her employers, for the past two years. She was responsible for household chores and assisting at her madam’s shop. Prior to her death, she had left the house without informing anyone, prompting a search and a missing person report to the police.

When she returned, she refused to reveal her whereabouts from the previous night. Later, she barricaded herself in a room and was discovered with foamy substances around her mouth and a bottle of the insecticide. Sadly, she passed away despite efforts to save her at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

The Lagos state police command has confirmed her death and released her body to her family, asserting that no foul play is suspected. The community is left mourning the loss of Abigail and grappling with the circumstances surrounding her untimely death.
