Hotels and Event Center Sealed by Kaduna Government for Unpaid Taxes

On Thursday, the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) took action by sealing off two hotels, an event center, and various other business premises in Kaduna due to unpaid taxes amounting to approximately N422.6 million.

The affected businesses included Seals Admiralty Naval Suites owned by Navy Travels and Tours from Abuja, as well as Deluxe Suites situated on Ali Akilu Road in Kaduna.

Other sealed premises were Big City Event Centre, Bijo Surgical & Scientific Limited, Zedvance Finance Limited, TXTLight Power Solution, Lek Dental & Maxillofacial Hospital, Azaka, and Enyo filling station, among others.

Aysha Ahmad, the Board Secretary and Legal Advisor of KADIRS, stated that the crackdown was carried out to ensure compliance among businesses that neglected their tax obligations.

According to Ahmad, “We are compelled to exercise our legal powers to enforce compliance when businesses fail to meet their tax responsibilities.”

She emphasized that the agency does not take pleasure in sealing off properties of tax defaulters and highlighted the importance of voluntary compliance, stating that all avenues are exhausted before resorting to enforcement actions.

Ahmad also urged the residents of Kaduna State to uphold their civic duty by voluntarily complying with tax regulations.
