Highway Linking Jigawa to Kano, Gombe, and Bauchi Submerged by Flooding

Recent flooding has resulted in the cutoff of the main road that connects Jigawa State to Kano, Gombe, and Bauchi states.

In a statement to the press, ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State, confirmed this development.

According to Mahmud, “The primary highway linking Birninkudu to Malawa, Babaldu, and adjacent states like Gombe and Bauchi is now completely submerged due to flooding, causing significant challenges for drivers.”

He advised motorists to seek out alternative routes to bypass the affected area.

Regarding the severity of the situation, Mahmud emphasized, “This is a critical scenario. We are urging all drivers to be cautious and seek alternative routes for their safety.”

Furthermore, Badruddeen mentioned that NSCDC personnel have been dispatched to the location to assist with redirecting traffic and maintaining order.

Additionally, the flooding has had an impact on nearby communities, leading to reports of residential and agricultural damage.
