In Delta State, an unidentified gunman shot and killed a policeman on Thursday.
The incident took place at the Isiokolo (Otoro-Agbon) Divisional Police headquarters in Ethiope East Local Government Area.
Two gunmen on motorcycles arrived at the station and indiscriminately fired shots at the policemen on duty, resulting in the death of one officer.
Two other officers were injured during the attack and were promptly taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, one of them succumbed to his injuries, while the other is currently in critical condition.
Following the attack, a specialized team of policemen conducted a raid on Isiokolo, Kokori, and neighboring towns in the area.
During the raid, several suspects connected to the attack were apprehended, causing anxiety among residents and uniformed personnel.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the death of one officer and stated that the gunmen arrived on a motorcycle.
He clarified that the incident was not a direct raid on the police station and assured the public that a manhunt is underway to arrest the perpetrators.
