Gunman Allegedly Rapes Student at Gunpoint in Delta, Cart Away Phone and ATM

According to reports, a student of the College of Health Technology in Delta State was allegedly raped at gunpoint in the Primary Health Centre in Agbarha-Otor, Ughelli North Local Government Area.

The perpetrator, armed with a knife and a gun, forcibly assaulted the student and then proceeded to steal her android phone, ATM, and an undisclosed amount of money.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:30am on July 24.

The victim shared her account of the incident, stating that she was awakened by the presence of an unfamiliar person standing beside her bed, holding a knife and what appeared to be a gun. She was extremely frightened when the intruder gestured for her to remain silent.

She explained, “He instructed me to get up and led me from the room where I was sleeping to where the female staff member was sleeping in the delivery room.”

“Upon arriving there, he noticed that the woman was lying with her face against the wall. He then instructed me to turn around, and as he was behind me with the knife and gun pointed at my head, I complied.”

She continued, “He inquired about the presence of money in the Health Centre, and I informed him that I didn’t know. He also asked about the types of phones we were using. I told him that he already had my android phone, while the others had button phones.”

“He then took me to the matron’s office, where there is a room. He took me inside and forced me to lie down on the bed, threatening to shoot and stab me if I didn’t comply. Terrified, I obeyed his instructions, and he proceeded to rape me.”

“After raping me, he demanded my phone and ATM passwords, which I reluctantly provided. He then unlocked my phone and began recording nude videos of me. He warned that if I told anyone, he would release the videos online.”

She expressed her disbelief at the rapid sequence of events, sharing, “It felt like a dream because everything happened so quickly, and there was no one to help me. He then led me back to my room, but I didn’t hear him open or close the door. It was only a minute later that I went to wake up my colleagues and inform them of what had transpired.”

Immediately, the staff member contacted the matron, who resides in Warri. The matron then contacted the Chairman of the street where the Health Centre is located in Agbarha-Otor.

Together, they went to the King’s palace to seek assistance from the vigilantes. However, the vigilantes were not present at the time, so they proceeded to the police station to report the incident.

The victim is now pleading with the authorities, including the Delta State Government and the Nigeria Police, to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure justice is served.

She expressed her ongoing trauma, stating, “Since July 24th, I haven’t been myself. It has been extremely difficult for me because I can’t escape the recurring memory of that horrifying experience.”

As of now, there has been no response from DSP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, regarding the incident.
