Concerns Raised Over Alleged Manipulation Attempts During Ondo APC Gubernatorial Primaries

Expressing discontent, the Ondo Vanguard for Good Governance, a faction within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has criticized the party’s decision not to conduct a delegates’ congress prior to the upcoming governorship primaries scheduled for Saturday.

The group has accused the committee responsible for validating the party’s membership in the state of potentially setting the stage for manipulation during the primaries.

Members of the group have highlighted the absence of the committee at the congress venues in the state, alleging that fabricated numbers were assigned to give the impression that the delegates’ congress had taken place.

Tade Ogidan, Chairman of the Ondo Vanguard for Good Governance, has stressed the urgency of intervention from both President Bola Tinubu and the national APC leadership to prevent a looming crisis within the party in the state.

Ogidan remarked, “The Committee members were conspicuously missing from the Congress venues across the state; they arbitrarily generated numbers behind closed doors.

“They utilized two different sets of result sheets in various locations, one from the local government Congress Committee and another from the state Congress Committee. The flawed handling of this critical and sacred process was further evident in the failure to appoint designated ward election officers, among other discrepancies.”

In response to the allegations, Kayode Fasua, Director of Information for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers (LACO-FS), stated, “The party has openly disclosed the process for executing the primary election in the state. If there are any areas requiring clarification, they should direct their concerns to the party. As for us, we stand ready, with moral integrity, for the primary election.”
