Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger bestowed upon Ijebu monarch by Tinubu


Recognizing his significant contributions to national development, President Bola Tinubu has bestowed Nigeria’s second-highest national honor, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, upon Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland.

The honor was presented during the 90th birthday celebration of the paramount ruler at the Oba Sikiru Adetona School of Governance, located at Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.

In a ceremony where Vice President Kashim Shettima represented him, President Tinubu also announced that the management of Oba Sikiru Adetona School of Governance, a legacy bequeathed to the university by the royal father, will now be overseen by the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru, Jos.

President Tinubu lauded the Awujale as an extraordinary royal figure and a champion of Nigeria’s democracy, admired nationwide for his integrity and bravery.
