Governor Otti urges police to identify officers responsible for the death of Abia resident

Expressing sorrow over the recent tragic incident where a police officer fatally shot Emmanuel Okocha, a resident of Amanta in Abia State, Governor Alex Otti has called on the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Kene Onwuemelie, to ensure a thorough investigation into the matter and ensure that those responsible face justice.

In a press release issued by Otti’s Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko, it was revealed that initial reports from the state police command indicate that one of the officers involved has been apprehended and will undergo the necessary disciplinary procedures, with the possibility of facing legal action.

Governor Otti extended his condolences to the victim’s family and praised the communities of Abiriba and Aba for refraining from resorting to violent protests but instead heeding the call to uphold the rule of law.

Assuring the public, Otti affirmed, “There will be complete transparency in handling this case.”
