Former US Speaker Nancy Pelosi Calls for Netanyahu to Step Down, Blames Him for Hindering Peace Talks Between Israel and Iran

Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the United States, has criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for being the main barrier to achieving peace between Israel and Iran.

During a visit to Ireland, Pelosi condemned Netanyahu’s handling of the conflict in Gaza and stated that he should step down from his position.

In an interview with Irish broadcaster RTE, Pelosi expressed her dismay over the October 7 attacks carried out by Hamas in southern Israel, which resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 people and the abduction of 253 individuals. She described these actions as “cruel brutality.”

Regarding Israel’s right to self-defense, Pelosi emphasized that while they have the right to protect themselves, she strongly disagrees with Netanyahu’s response to the situation, calling it “terrible.”

When asked if she believed Netanyahu was obstructing peace efforts in the region, Pelosi affirmed that he had been a hindrance for years.

She remarked, “I am uncertain whether he fears peace, lacks the ability to pursue peace, or simply does not desire peace, but he has consistently impeded progress towards a two-state solution, making him the primary obstacle to peace.”
