First Quarter of 2024 Sees Niger Internal Revenue Service Generate over N7bn

Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) in Niger State has seen a significant increase in the first quarter of 2024, with the Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NGSIRS) revealing a total of N7,031,981,398.93 generated.

This marks a substantial growth of 170% compared to the N2,605,507,197.15 generated in the same period of 2023.

Mohammed M. Etsu, the Executive Chairman of NGSIRS, disclosed this information in Minna, highlighting that the collection was for January, February, and March 2024.

Commenting on the growth, he stated, “The significant increase from the previous year is a testament to the tireless efforts of the NGSIRS team and the unwavering support from the Governor of Niger State, Umaru Mohammed Bago.”

In 2023, the Service saw total collections amounting to N21,675,361,059.11, compared to N16,848,325,487.70 in 2022.

Etsu expressed confidence in the Service’s ability to meet its 2024 budgetary IGR target of N5 billion per month, emphasizing the implementation of effective strategies to achieve this goal.
