At approximately 1 pm on Saturday, a fire erupted at the Cartage Cinema in Asaba, Delta State.
The cinema is situated on Okpanam Road within Oshimili North Local Government Area.
Numerous Nigeria Police personnel were present to manage the situation, resulting in the closure of Okpanam Road to regulate traffic.
The cinema, located opposite the Delta State House of Assembly, shares a boundary with Rain Oil Filling Station and Gabbs Supermarket.
As a safety measure, the staff at the nearby petrol station ceased fuel sales, and Red Cross members were present to assist any casualties.
Despite the presence of Delta State Fire Service personnel and their firefighting equipment, they struggled to extinguish the flames engulfing the two-story building.
According to some bystanders, there were reports of individuals being trapped inside the cinema.
