Fire guts Otukpo Main Market in Benue (photos/videos)

The Otukpo Main Market in Benue, which has been ravaged by fire, suffered the loss of millions of Naira worth of goods and shops in the early hours of March 16. The Federal Fire Service reported their arrival at the scene at 4 am to combat the inferno, successfully extinguishing the fire. However, an individual whose mother’s shop was affected claimed that the fire service did not arrive until 8 am. Photos and videos circulating online show the efforts of concerned residents and shop owners in trying to subdue the continuing flames. Reports also indicated that aside from the loss of shops and properties, people were injured in the blaze.
