FG shuts down Chinese restaurant that refused to serve Nigerians in Lagos

The closure of two Chinese restaurants in Victoria Island and Mall 33 Aboyade Cole in Lagos by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has caused a stir. The shutdown was a result of the restaurants’ refusal to serve Nigerians. This decision came after a Nigerian lady reported being asked to leave the restaurant after being told that they do not serve Nigerians. The FCCPC confirmed the discrimination policy and announced that the restaurant, Haufei Restaurant, will face regulatory action. They also revealed that some FCCPC operatives experienced the same treatment. Following the closure, the manager of the restaurant was spotted locking up the facility and subsequently surrendered the key.
