Demise of Wigwe University’s Registrar Inyama in Abuja Prompts Family to Call for Investigation

Ulonna Inyama, the Registrar of Wigwe University, has passed away in Abuja.

Reports indicate that Inyama lost her life in an Abuja hospital on Saturday, following an incorrect blood transfusion.

A family member explained that the deceased experienced a severe reaction after being given the wrong blood type.

According to the source, “Her death was allegedly attributed to a mistaken blood transfusion, which occurred after significant blood loss from complications related to fibroids.

“She was subsequently transferred to another medical facility where she succumbed to deteriorating health from these complications,” the source revealed to Vanguard.

The family is urging for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her passing in order to establish accountability and prevent similar incidents in the future.

Prior to her role at Wigwe University, Inyama served as the chief personnel officer and head of strategic communications/special duties in the office of the executive secretary of the National Universities Commission, NUC.

This incident has once again highlighted concerns about the standard of medical care and safety measures in Nigeria.

Her demise comes in the wake of the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Wigwe University’s founder, Herbert Wigwe, along with his wife and son in the USA a few months earlier.
