Details on the Burial of former House of Representatives Member, Cairo Ojougboh


The burial arrangements for the late Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, a former member of the House of Representatives in Nigeria, have been announced by his family.

Dr. Cairo Ojougboh passed away on February 7, 2024, at the age of 64, and his burial is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Ojougboh Family Compound in Agbor, Delta State.

Following a Funeral Mass set to commence at 10:00 am at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church along Old Lagos/Asaba Road, Agbor, the burial will be conducted immediately.

Subsequently, a reception will be held on the same day at the Open Ground, Opposite Central Hospital in Agbor.

Hailing from Delta State, the late Ojougboh was known as a prominent grassroots politician, characterized by fearlessness and outspokenness that transcended tribal or linguistic boundaries.

As per a statement released by the family, other scheduled burial activities leading up to the internment include a Requiem Mass on Thursday, April.16, 2024, at 4:00 pm at the Church for The Assumption in Asokoro, Abuja. Additionally, a Vigil Mass will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 4:00 pm at All Saints Catholic Church in Alihame, Agbor, Delta State.

The Christian Wake is slated to occur on Thursday, April 18, 2024, between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm at the Ojougboh Family Compound in Alihame, Agbor, Delta State.

To conclude the burial proceedings, a Thanksgiving Mass is designated for Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 9:00 am at All Saints Catholic Church in Alihame, Agbor, Delta State.

Late Cairo Ojougboh had served as the representative of Ika Federal Constituency in Delta State in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007 and was also a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State. Furthermore, he held the position of former Executive Director Project at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
