Exciting Developments: Tinubu to Lead Groundbreaking at National Fire Academy

Mark your calendars for May 28 when President Bola Tinubu will lead the groundbreaking ceremony for multiple projects at the National Fire Academy, illuminating the prestigious institution.

This initiative is part of the series of events planned to commemorate the first anniversary of the current administration.

During an inspection of ongoing projects at the academy, Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, revealed the upcoming milestone. The academy serves as the training arm of the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

The vision behind these new projects is to transform the academy into a top-tier facility. This evolution aims to not only enhance local capabilities but also reduce reliance on foreign training programs, while extending training opportunities to personnel from other nations.

The upcoming projects slated for commencement include a Clinic, Worship Centers, Props Center, Sports Arena, Lecture Halls, Hostels, among others.

Speaking on the ambitious plans, the minister commented, “The endeavor ahead of us is set to establish arguably the most advanced fire academy in West Africa. With the groundbreaking scheduled for May 28, we anticipate completing the project within just one year.”

He further emphasized, “The development of the Fire Service is not just a career choice but a crucial profession that demands our support. Ensuring the safety of lives and properties is a paramount duty of the government, with fire being a significant threat.”

He added, “Our Fire Service is not only about combating fires but also focuses on rescue operations as the first responders during emergencies. The potential within this sector is immense and largely untapped. Over the next year, our goal is to unlock these potentials and establish an academy that meets local training needs while also providing training services globally, enhancing Nigeria’s reputation.”

“Numerous partnerships and collaborations with local and international organizations have been secured. In the coming months, we invite you to witness the remarkable progress we are making,” he concluded.

At the event, Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Danladi Chiya, along with traditional leaders, announced the Council’s decision to allocate additional land for the Fire Academy’s expansion project.
