Everton Accepts Two-Point Deduction in EPL, Drops Appeal

After considering their options, Everton has chosen not to continue their appeal against a two-point deduction due to violating spending regulations.

Although initially planning to challenge the decision from an independent regulatory commission, the club has now decided otherwise.

The official website of Everton released a statement stating, “The appeal filed by Everton Football Club contesting the two-point deduction imposed by a Premier League independent commission has been retracted. This penalty was due to a breach of the Premier League’s financial guidelines for the accounting period up to June 2023.”

As a result, the hearing set for later this month will no longer take place, and the club will finish the current Premier League season with the two-point deduction intact.

Heading into the final two matches, Everton sits in 15th place with 37 points, comfortably out of the relegation zone by 11 points, guaranteeing their place in the Premier League for the following season.
