Confirmation has come from Chelsea that defender Thiago Silva will be ending his tenure at the Premier League club after this season.
The 39-year-old made his way to Chelsea as a free agent following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2020.
During his time at the club, Silva has participated in 151 games and secured victories in notable competitions like the Champions League, Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.
Reflecting on his journey, Silva expressed, “I believe that in every effort I put forth during my four-year stay here, I gave my best.
“However, every story has its beginning, middle, and end. This isn’t necessarily a final conclusion but a transitional phase.
“My aim is to leave the door slightly ajar so that in the future, I may come back in a different capacity. The connection I have with this club is beyond words. Simply put, thank you,” Silva conveyed emotionally in a video message shared on the club’s official website.
