Intra-Enugu conflict results in the death of four individuals


The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 12 suspects in connection with a land dispute between two communities in Ezeagu Local Government Area of the State, which led to the loss of four lives.

According to a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, in Enugu on Sunday, the clash between the Oyofo and Awha communities occurred on Friday at approximately 10 am.

“The Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmed Ammani, has ordered the deployment of police operatives to Oyofo and Awha communities.

“Their deployment aims to ensure the restoration and maintenance of peace in the area following the clash,” he stated.

Ndukwe further disclosed, “Four males were brutally killed during the clash, and additionally, one tricycle and five motorcycles were set ablaze.”

Preliminary investigations conducted by the police spokesperson indicate that the conflict stemmed from an ongoing dispute over land ownership between the communities, as reported by NAN.
