Eight Suspected Internet Fraudsters Arrested by EFCC in Uyo, Akwa Ibom

According to a statement from the EFCC Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has apprehended eight individuals believed to be involved in internet fraud.

The arrests took place on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Osongama Extension following actionable intelligence received by the agency.

Among the items seized from the suspects were seven laptops, 13 smartphones, two wristwatches, and one router.

Upon the conclusion of investigations, the suspects will be brought before the court to face charges.

The EFCC statement noted, “Operatives of Uyo Zonal Command of the EFCC on Thursday, May 2, 2024, arrested eight suspected internet fraudsters in an early morning sting operation at Osong Ama Extension in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

“Their apprehension was based on credible intelligence regarding their alleged involvement in internet fraud.

“Recovered items included seven laptops, 13 smartphones, two wristwatches, and one router.”
