EFCC Confirms Investigation into Former Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika

Confirmation has been made by the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, regarding the probe of ex-Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika.

Recent reports suggested that the EFCC detained Sirika on allegations of an $8 billion contract fraud.

The EFCC chairman, however, mentioned that the investigation extended beyond Sirika to other individuals within the aviation sector.

In a media briefing held in Abuja on Tuesday, Olukoyede stated: “Our investigation covers not only Hadi Sirika but also several other officials who have served in the ministry over the past few years.”

He further added, “The ongoing investigation is not targeted at individuals but at the overall system and national interests.”

Olukoyede emphasized, “It is important not to portray this as a personal pursuit of Sirika by the EFCC. This is a systematic probe into the Ministry of Aviation, and when the time is right, the findings will be disclosed. Currently, it’s premature to reveal specific details of our progress.”
