Seventeen individuals believed to be involved in internet fraud have been detained by the Uyo Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in various locations across Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The arrest of these suspects took place during a well-executed operation following numerous intelligence reports connecting them to various forms of online criminal activities.
The EFCC confirmed the arrest through a post on its official Twitter account.
During the operation, authorities found and seized several items belonging to the suspects, including mobile phones, a television set, a red Toyota Camry LE car, a black Honda car, and two Lexus cars.
“Once the investigations are concluded, the suspects will be prosecuted in court,” the EFCC stated.
