Edwin Clark urges Tinubu to intervene in Nnamdi Kanu’s release

Calling on President Bola Tinubu, the leader of the Ijaw nation, Edwin Clark, has urged the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, to file a nolle prosequi for the release of the Independent People of Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

In a second letter to the President, Clark emphasized the long-overdue political release of Kanu and urged Tinubu to direct the Attorney General to take action.

Referencing the marginalization of the Igbos, Clark cautioned against repeating past mistakes and highlighted the need for Kanu’s freedom for peace and stability in the South-East.

Addressing the ongoing unrest in the region, Clark stressed the importance of resolving the situation through dialogue and reconciliation, rather than military force.

Despite being denied bail by Justice Binta Nyako, Kanu’s release is seen as a necessary step towards national unity and ending disruptions in the Southeast.

Clark highlighted the significance of integrating the Igbos back into Nigeria’s mainstream, ensuring equal representation and opportunities for all regions.

Furthermore, he echoed the call for the restructuring of Nigeria, citing it as a crucial legacy for President Tinubu to consider during his tenure.
