Edo road accidents claimed 12 lives in 2 months

The Edo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corp, FRSC, said no fewer than 12 persons were killed in road accidents across the state between the month of May and June, 2024.

NewsNow reports that the state sector commander of the corp, Paul Okpe, disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday in Benin City.

Okpe, who said the deaths were recorded in 31 accidents that occurred across the state, added that 12 persons were killed in the month of May while four were killed in the month of June.

He said 143 passengers were involved in the accidents, 12 died and 53 were injured.

The sector commander attributed the crashes to route violation, brake failure, overspeeding, dangerous driving, and use of phone while driving, among others.

He advised motorists to imbibe the safety culture on the road in order to stay alive.
