Encouragement from Tinubu to Religious Leaders: Foster Change in Nigeria by Voting Out Bad Leaders in 2027

During a Ramadan Iftar gathering with traditional rulers and religious leaders at the State House in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu advised against negativity towards Nigeria in religious sermons.

Tinubu emphasized the importance of using the 2027 general elections as a platform to remove ineffective leaders rather than resorting to condemnation.

He urged religious leaders to offer constructive criticism towards elected officials, highlighting their role in shaping the nation’s future.

In his address, Tinubu stressed, “The responsibility for the well-being of our nation rests in your hands. It is crucial to pray for our country and impart knowledge to our youth through the impactful sermons delivered in our places of worship.”

Quoting a Yoruba adage, Tinubu stated, “No matter how challenging the situation may be, one must remain committed. Preserve the essence of our country amidst challenges and refrain from disparaging remarks. Criticism should inspire transformation.”

He urged religious leaders to refrain from cursing Nigeria and to uphold a positive outlook, emphasizing that leadership transitions should be facilitated through democratic processes without fostering negativity towards the nation.

“Acknowledge the need for change if a leader is ineffective, but let us wait for the electoral process to bring about transformation. Let us cherish our homeland and refrain from casting aspersions. Nigeria is a nation of immense beauty and potential,” Tinubu concluded.
