Dealing with Ongoing Inquiries About My Marital Status as a Mother of Two

Adeyinka Alaseyori, a well-known gospel singer, recently discussed her decision to keep her husband out of the public eye during an interview with Leke Adeboye and his wife, Titi, on their podcast ‘Confession Box with PLA.’

Despite being a mother of two, Alaseyori mentioned that people still inquire about her marital status.

During the podcast, Alaseyori shared, “I love my husband, I don’t flaunt him. I don’t flaunt him so much. I don’t flaunt him all the time.”

She acknowledged that due to her choice to not display her marriage publicly, some assume she is single.

“So most of the time people ask me, are you married? I have people who will tell me, I like you even after I have had two children,” she shared.

“I do not wear my wedding ring. But I am happily married with two children,” she added.

When discussing how she manages the demands of her family and career, Alaseyori praised her husband for being supportive of her dreams. She explained, “Fame came quicker than expected for us. So my husband prefers to keep our family life away from public scrutiny.

“You need to be mindful of your actions and words. Many individuals look up to you,” the gospel artist emphasized.

Reflecting on her musical journey, Alaseyori shared that her husband recognized her talent early on, back when she was part of the church choir.

She added, “He foresaw this before me, so he encouraged me to pursue it.”

The singer attributed her musical inspiration to her direct communion with God, stating, “My understanding is deepened when I connect with God personally. Continuously seeking Him enriches my music.”

Alaseyori revealed that her passion for gospel music began during her time at the World Soul Evangelical Ministry in Ilesha, Osun State.

She recalled, “I would travel from Lagos to Ilesha as a young girl. I spent most of my time with my grandma in a small room. I would clean the church and sing, finding joy in serving God.”

Opening up about her family history, the Ondo State-native shared how she resided with her grandmother in a single-room setup during her childhood, as her parents lived separately for nearly two decades.

Alaseyori disclosed, “I grew up with my grandma for the most part and didn’t have much contact with my dad. My parents were estranged for a long time.

“I initially believed someone else was my father until I learned the truth later on,” she revealed, mentioning that her parents eventually reconciled.
